Bonus room over the garage. The most common location in Houston and the least forgiving — the floor is a joist span over an uninsulated garage, so bass leaves through the structure and heat arrives through the ceiling. It needs isolation at the floor and a plan for the heat before anyone talks about speakers.

The converted formal. Hard floors, a tall ceiling and often a window wall — three things a theater does not want. It becomes a good room once it is treated, and treating it properly is most of the work.

Drawn from scratch. In new construction the room is laid out to the seating rather than the other way round. Riser height, screen geometry and speaker placement get confirmed at design development, which is the difference between a cinema and a room with a projector in it.

Built for the climate. Houston humidity affects electronics and speaker cones the same way it affects everything else here, so gear gets specified and racks get ventilated with that in mind. HVAC noise floor is part of the acoustic design conversation, not an afterthought. And every install is commissioned with surge and power-quality protection built in, because the Gulf Coast does not give you a choice about that.

Where the seats go. Home theater seating in Houston is the first decision, not the last — riser height, screen size and speaker aiming all follow from it. Two rows is the usual answer in a bonus room: the front row on the main floor, the back row up seven to twelve inches depending on ceiling height and the sightline to the bottom of the screen. Get that dimension wrong and the second row watches the back of the first row's heads for the life of the room.

The seats themselves. We supply and install home theater seats from the manufacturers that build them properly — motorized recline, powered headrests, concealed storage, upholstery specified for Gulf Coast humidity — and we will work with seating you have already chosen, or with an interior designer's specification. In our drawings the seats are a listening position before they are furniture.

What gets tested before we leave. Every network cable we run and terminate is tested and certified, and the result is recorded against that run in our service records, so a cable tested today can still be looked up years from now. Every theater we finish is calibrated for both sound and picture before handover — all of them, not the ones that ask. Every surround sound room elsewhere in the house gets audio calibration as well. None of that is an upgrade line on the quote. It is how the work is finished.
